H.E. Cheam Yeap said that the first oil production in Cambodia is expected to be delayed for two years and that the delay is a blessing as Cambodia need to more time to develop laws for the new industries.
He also proposed to draft three laws- on oil control, oil tax and tax benefits within the energy industry- to ensure better management of the extractive industries.
Extractive Industry Transparency Initiative (EITI) has also been invited to hold four workshops in Cambodia to help guide development of laws.
